Presentation

Claude Lévêque is a visual artist french born in 1953 in Nevers (Nievre, France). He lives and works in Montreuil ( Seine-Saint -Denis, France).

Major Figure of the contemporary scene and french international, Claude Lévêque declared having a traditional approach of the art, that he sees as a reflection of the society.

The themes and the materials he worked are the most contemporary that they are. The next he door on the surrounding world, unfair, violent, influenced by the media, is not frankly positive. However, Claude Lévêque does not seek to deny, or on the contrary to embellish this reality: it is in fact the witness and imposes it on the spectator, who also becomes actor.

Close to the punk movement, but also of other alternative crops, Claude Lévêque rejects the blind acceptance of the established order. His work, original and ingenious, is based on the use of the image, sound and light.

Claude Leveque privileged the work in situ, although it has often worked in the field of objects, its choices are looking toward the creation of spaces and atmospheres. The preferred tool of the artist remains the everyday environment. Through the facilities the artist search to see, watch the real otherwise ...

Claude Lévêque is attached to the universe of childhood, he has produced several works using the image of Mehdi El Glaoui ofBelle and Sebastien.

He first had shows in France in 1984, before going on to conquer Europe, America and Asia, and regularly participates in contemporary art biennales. His works, genuine initiatic pathways, offer to the public to discover the real under a subjective angle and new. The Kamel Mennour Gallery located in Paris created the event by devoting an exhibition in 2008.
