Presentation

Jochen Gerner graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art de Nancy, where he studied from 1988 to 1993. In 1993, Jochen Gerner joined author collectives including the experimental collective OuBaPo. It is above all to his qualities as an illustrator that he owes his first public success. He has published in Les Inrockuptibles, Liberation, Le Monde and The New York Times in particular.

In 1996, he became one of the main illustrators of Éditions du Rouergue, which brought a revival in children's illustration. The book stamped OuBaPo will mark the links between comics and contemporary art.

The author is then spotted by the Anne Barrault gallery in Paris for these graphic experiments. In particular, it will allow some of his works to enter the collection of the National Contemporary Art Fund (FNAC) of the Ministry of Culture, the result of recognition of the contemporary art community.

Jochen Gerner has since been edited by L'Association with a wide variety of publications, such as documentations, illustration books or critical works on the 9th art and is involved in all the steps highlighting the artistic aspect of the band. -drawn within the structure. He likes to experiment, to implement a critique of language and image while diverting visual codes.
