Arson

France  • 1953

Presentation

Descendant of an illustrious Nice family, Arson is a transgressive libertarian.

Born in Paris in 1953, he entered fine arts at the age of 16. First interested in painting, he turned to architecture which he finally abandoned, returning to painting, then worked the earth, learned pottery, modeling, sculpture and molding. He returns to his first love displaying an assertive and original personal tone.

We can find in Arson, a fetish taste for women. The woman being for Arson, a dreamed ideal.

He invites us to look beyond, towards his unique achievements, which are so many stories, so many dreams, where you can draw the poetry of his work, find an original invention, to get out of a world without dreams, too written in advance, too consensual, which will open your imagination.

But what Arson's work says is that you shouldn't stop at first sight. There are several readings of things and it is necessary to look further, taking the time to go beyond your preconceptions. Things are often not what you think they are.

Admirer of Duchamp and Magritte, Arson defines himself as the descendant of Dadaism, in what he is transgressive and provocative.

To paraphrase Magritte, Arson, speaking of his '' Esculmau '', used to say, '' This is not an ice cream, nor an ass, it is an '' Esculmau '' ...

A worthy heir to his predecessors, Arson is also a poet, a bit of an anarchist, in love with Women, their forms, their femininity, their creativity. The artist invites us, in his works outside the norm, to his measure, excessive and provocative, like his friends the surrealists, to reflect on women, but also on today's society and the taboos that exist there. 'always lock up.

Art brut, decorative art, Arson's sculptures evolve according to the material that he models with passion and the very personal look he has on our post-modern world in turmoil.

"Anarchy is the freedom of men who deserve it," he said.

Léo Ferré said "your style is your ass", Arson seems to agree.

The shape often allows the bottom to surface. This is especially true in Arson's designs. JFG
