Presentation

Mélanie Quentin, born in 1946, is one of the best known sculptors in Barbizon. After studying psychology, she attended art classes in Paris, studied lithography with Louis Vuillermoz and then entered André Del Debbio's studio (Académie Julian).

Inspired by both modern and ancient art, she works around the theme of the human: the woman, the couple or emblematic figures. Her style is figurative, her modeling is spontaneous and very touchy. She uses chamotte clay that she translates into bronze, a material that magnifies her sculptures and perpetuates them. For about twenty years, her works have been sold to collectors all over the world (Germany, Belgium, Italy, United States, China, Australia, England...).

She is a member of the Taylor Foundation, the Salon des Artistes Français, the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Louis.

A report was devoted to her on FR3 (French national television) in 1998. In 2000, she represented France and sculpture at the first international forum for peace for creative women in the Mediterranean under the aegis of UNESCO in Rhodes.
