Presentation
Sofia's renaissance inspired portraits of both men and women from different walks of life are transformed into surreal images of themselves. By distorting their faces, she conceals their identity thus allowing the viewer to construct a new story or narrative.
Sofia attempts to break free from the toxic beauty standards that societies have always tried to impose on women. She believes that by deconstructing the face challenges the viewer to question the ideals of beauty and help him break free from the social constraints and norms that society has been throwing at us, keeping us bound to the ground suppressing our individuality and our creativity while at the same time reconnecting the past with the present.
