Viraj Mithani is an interdisciplinary artist and educator. His artworks often incorporate personal experiences while dealing with dichotomies of abstraction and representation, the epic and the mundane, the organic and the technological.  

His selected solo exhibitions include: Eastern Affair, Ravi Vazirani Design Studio, Mumbai; Politics of Color, The Quorum, Gurgaon; Decalcomania Fractal: An ode to Naren, Clark House Initiative, Mumbai; and Paper to Plastic, Spudnik Press Cooperative, Chicago. He also participated in numerous group exhibitions such as: Making Space, Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai; Boomerang, Tao Art Gallery, Mumbai; Site Art Space in Vadodara, Illinois State Museum, Lockport; International Print Triennial Krakow held in Sweden: Dalarnas Museum, Falun and Meken Smedjebacked; Hammond Museum, New York; Williamsburg Art and Historical Center, New York; Flushing Town Hall, New York; Sullivan Galleries, Chicago and Gene Siskel Film Center, Chicago.

Mithani was selected for artist residences at the Spudnik Press Co-operative, Chicago, Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, and Space 118, Mumbai. His past teaching experiences include the Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai; School School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago; Fulton Street Collective, Chicago and the Chicago Public Library, Chicago. In 2022, he was selected by Forbes India for their annual “30 under 30" list.

He is a co-leader of the Carpe Art group, which focuses on supporting contemporary Indian art through a series of strategies that enhance public engagement and accessibility. At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mithani founded Carpe Art Supports, which provided financial support and promotion to local artists struggling during the lockdown.
