En Iwamura
Japan • 1988
Presentation
En Iwamura has always been heavily influenced by art thanks to his parents who are both painters. Born in 1998 in Kyoto, Japan, he graduated with a MFA from the craft programme at Kanazawa College of Art in 2011 after being rejected from its painting course. His works, which primarily feature playful, stylized ceramics are the result of a unique blend of historical Japanese ceramics and his own childhood influences of anime and Manga.
Iwamura's work has been exhibited internationally, most recently, in 2021, at the Ross+Kramer Gallery in New York. In 2019, he became an artist in residence at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park.
