Presentation

Mariam Olubunmi Aliyu is a multimedia artist, born in early 1999, in Kwara state, Nigeria. She tends to investigate different visual art forms; her works tell more of her personal stories. She works to express her feelings about changing and challenging social issues.

Mariam explores her circle using her siblings, friends, and sometimes, herself as models and subjects in her works. She makes use of burnt papers mostly in her subject, this is a style for being herself. It is an irony of her personality. After she escapes from a suicide attempt, she sees the burnt paper as a representation of her past experiences.

The burnt side shows her dark moment while the unburnt side shows her future. The Burnt side makes her appreciate the unburnt side. Just Like Death makes people appreciate life! Her painting has been exhibited nationally and Internationally. In addition, her works have been acquired by many private collectors
