Presentation

Part One, his real name Enrique Torres, is an American graffiti artist.

He is considered to be one of the key artists of the New York graffiti style, visible on subway stations during the 80's. A golden age veteran of painting on subway in New- York and he is considered to be one of the most influential and talented artists in the world of graffiti, he had his own unique style of drawings that he began to develop in 1974. He alternated between bubble style and mechanical style until 1976 to and eventually invented his own style which he called "mechanical swirl". Thanks to the book "Subway art", this style became part of the first wave of European graffiti artists.

From 1974 to 1985, he was one of the most accomplished artists of the New York subway. In 1985 he took a brief break from graffiti before coming back to it, as the leader in 1990, through a re-emergence of the wild style with Harlem murals. His work was portrayed in the movie Style Wars but also in Martha Cooper's Hip Hop Files and recently in other books such as Burning New York, New York City Black Book Masters and Graffiti Planet.

Part One expresses himself today on canvases and walls all around the world. He was recently presented at the exhibition Born in The Streets at the Cartier foundation in Paris.
