About the artwork

Artwork sold in perfect condition

With this series of figurative paintings, my aim is to create a spontaneous dialogue between the image of sexy men and sport in a sweet way; my intention with each piece is also to explore the concepts of identity, gender and transgression, mixed with lighter themes of fun, colour and sport. My work is an extension of my own identity as an Andalusian and therefore often inspired by my memories of Seville, my hometown, its architecture, its cultural scene and its colourful characters from the artworld and beyond. For this series, I want to go further in celebrating my Iberian heritage while sharing with the viewer my personal understanding of male beauty. In addition, I wanted to celebrate Gay identity and its meaning in a cultural and geographic context that is personal to me. That is why I set the paintings against a background of tiles inspired by Spanish and Portuguese traditional architecture. These portraits are semi-nude masculine bodies, healthy looking, sporty and sexy shaped figures. They are also confident men who are enjoying life and freedom. Although presented as masculine men, these are ambiguous, genderless figures as I wanted to give each their own personal sense of identity, their own personal sense of their own gender. These figures then unite femininity and masculinity, strength and vulnerability, humour and seduction. These portraits ultimately are about celebrating attitudes that make life enjoyable, driven by pleasure and by embracing who you are. In the same way I tend to embrace who I am in my personal and artistic life. Shipping disclaimer: The shipping cost is an estimate based on current shipping rates and is subject to change.
