Presentation

Pierre Schwartz is a photographer born in Suresnes in 1963. Passionate by Nature, he dedicates a big part of his work to the wild beauty of animals. In his research on the Przewalski horse, his obsession is to pay tribute to the last wild horse represented in the Palaeolithic Art and to find in his pictures the magic of these rock engravings that were the signature of pictorial art more then 60 000 years ago.

The XXth century is about photography and it is no coincidence that one night of 1985 the magic of this new art appeared to him while browsing a famous book of the photographer Henry Cartier Bresson in the living room of a friend, himself the disciple of the master of the decisive moment.

Since then, photography will never be only an action of reproduction but a way to transmit an instant of life with all the sensibility and spontaneity coming from the heart. His first steps are like a challenge and starts by working as a reporter-photographer for the press agency "Reuters Paris", for the purpose of press news reports.

After several publications in the daily "Libération", the photography department orders him news photography reports but with a critical eye. After two years of Parisian reports, his love for Nature invites him in the Cévennes to treat his first magazine report on the griffon vulture, recently reintroduced in the Gorges of Causse Méjean. Several weeks of watching this large glider in the hard loneliness of this wild space ended up with a 12-page report in the magazine "Terre Sauvage".

It will be during a trip of several months in Morocco that he will decide to follow the last falconers that have kept their flight hunting traditions: "The last falconers of Morocco". Firstly exclusively for the "Figaro Magazine", it will finally be published in "Magazine Geo", with whom he will collaborate for several years.

The consecration will be with the fundamental work about the return of the wolf in Europe, this report was published in "Européenne Stern", "Géo France", "Geo Espagne", "The Sunday Telegraph Magazine" and "7 Courrier de la Serra".

In 1989, by chance during his itinerary in Morocco, he attends the record of the song "Continental Drift" of the Rolling Stones. This meeting will allow him to realize a series of images in the intimacy of the mythic group.

He then collaborates with different press agencies as Sipa Press, GLMR, and works for the television channel "Canal Plus" as a studio photographer.

For now two years, he has been exploring new possibilities of aerial photographies with a drone and still works on his background work about the last wild horse existing on the earth: Przewalski horse.
