The painter Julian Semiao, finalist of the Luxembourg Art Prize of 2020, presents his third Parisian solo show within the WAWI gallery. For his new series Dissonance, Julian Semiao draws on his life as a young city dweller. With a system of representation that could at first glance be borrowed from comics, Julian Semiao plays with the narration and the meaning of reading the works to revisit the question of figuration. In an accumulation of popular and everyday references, Julian Semiao advocates an uninhibited and joyful superficiality in which his entire generation can identify. The Wawi Gallery is an exhibition space focused on contemporary urban art. It is known for allowing artists to express themselves directly on its walls, which makes it an immersive space, a timeless place.
Opening on Thursday March 3 at 7:00 p.m. 49 rue Albert Thomas, 75010. Métro République (line 5,8,9,11) Jacques Bonsergent (line 5).
