"If the persistence of the practice of graffiti incised most often on the plaster of a wall or the bark of a tree never ceases to amaze me, the immutable beauty of the Flemish portrait and its ocean of faces m is equally enchanting. Both born from a codified system, tirelessly started again, their incredible presence nevertheless transcends time.
Openly practicing the idea of an art history at the heart of my artistic production, the use of varnish was essential, it bringing shine and hardness to the painting. In fact, the famous “shine" that Van Eyck spoke of, this shine close to glass, stained glass, also close to an epidermis supposed to protect an organic world, is fragile.
So write, scratch, scratch, graffiti any painted surface, in order to make problematic what, in the past, was obvious, without contradicting the painting, but asserting it differently.
In the vertigo of the world where everything vacillates, where there is no longer a reliable model, will the image still demonstrate its capacity to dazzle, its power to be, to finally exist as it is conceived?
See, look, observe, admire."
