Biography
Julien Raboteau uses the pseudo Jurictus in his work as a designer. His work is based on a sharp line in pen and India ink, mostly black and white works. The images are part of a search for form, very detailed tree patterns where the eye can get lost in this complexity of detail.
The artist does not seek to clarify and simplify but to reveal textures, shapes from an invisible world, where we venture step by step as in a Lovecraftian story. An incantatory drawing that reveals monsters, demons, chimeras, a whole universe in which we move with patience and determination. All of these things make up a Pandora's box with its personal mythology.
These creatures can sometimes seem abstract but Jurictus is also inspired by its own popular culture. Passionate about metal music, he draws hairy characters, mustaches thirsty for beer and at the same time glam in the ziggy stardust or bodybuilded warriors out of a Manowar pouch with the Conan touch, knight armor made of leather perfecto and cowboy boots. where you have the impression that everything is made of the same wood. May matter merge, that flesh, stone, steel are soaked in the same mold.
A drawing suffering from a rare disease in the oscillation of a wobbly, uneven, raw but controlled line. As if he wanted to show a tormented vision, a permanent chaos where light and hope can spring up through the gentle and naive appearance of fellows, cute, smiling animals
