Biography
Son and grandsons of a painter, Marc Joly was born in 1959 in Paris region. For more than 20 years, he has been attending the art studios in Paris and especially « La Grande Chaumière ». Without academic training, his artistic work is to capture a movement from a living model and transcribe it in a spontaneous and minimalist way.
Preferring short poses of the models, he works in letting go to turn a gesture in a work, producing snapshots of life, with their share of mystery. He superimposes several techniques, favoring watercolor pencil and wash, to transcribe the fluidity of movement and the impermanence of rendering.
