Biography

Azeez Muritadoh Olakunle is a self-taught artist from Lagos, Nigeria, whose work has garnered global recognition for its emotional depth and innovative style. Specializing in expressionism and abstract paintings, Azeez's current series, Healing, features figures with a distinct purple blindfold strip. This series symbolizes the journey of healing and the human experience, emphasizing themes of perseverance, hope, and the unknown future.

Azeez's artistic journey began in 2014 when he gained admission to Yaba College of Technology to study Fine Art. However, during his second year, he faced a significant challenge when he was diagnosed with a psychological health issue, forcing him to pause his education for treatment. After a year of recovery, financial constraints prevented him from returning to his studies, leading to a four-year hiatus from painting.

In 2019, Azeez reignited his passion for art and made a remarkable comeback. His work has since been showcased in notable exhibitions, including: Artnumber23 New Era, London, Artnumber23 Open Call, Athens, Greece (2022),  Art Fair, Ecobank Pan African Center (2024, 2025), and many more.

Azeez's art is a testament to resilience and the power of creativity, inspiring others to navigate their healing journeys through dedication and faith.
