Biography
Peter Eneji (b. 1991). From a very young age, Peter was drawn into the alluring vistas of creative expression - a fascination that followed him into his adulthood. Growing up in a government residential area that degenerated into a slum in Abuja, Peter saw life from the eyes of a semi-average Nigerian child which immensely influenced his art themes and philosophy in the years to come. Peter took his enthusiasm for the arts a notch further by obtaining a bachelor's degree in painting from the Cross River University of Technology, Calabar-Nigeria.
As part of his creative journey, Peter was mentored by foremost contemporary Nigerian artists like Abiodun Olaku, Wallace Ejoh, Joshua Nmesirionye amongst others, their influences did not only amplify his skills and proficiency, but largely changed his paradigm towards how he creates art.
In his paintings, he captures the dynamics of the human experience, our journeys into self discovery and becoming; our interactions with nature and the world around us in relationship to social change, modernism; the complexities of our emotions as a window into the human soul. He tactfully captures this using the human figure metaphorically juxtaposed with nature as his tools of visual communication; painting majorly in acrylic and oil mediums with bold expressive strokes. He currently resides and works in Abuja and is a member of the Elbowroom Art Movement.
