Everybody loves a trip to the seaside and artists are no exception. Famous artists like Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, and Auguste Renoir all painted sandy beaches at some point their careers. The beach has also inspired sculptors such as the great Niki de Saint Phalle; she creates colourful characters, dressed in swimsuits and often playing beach volleyball. The beach is also a topos for art photography, from top-down shots like those of Slim Aarons and emerging artist Antoine Rose to more classic but still poetic panoramas and sunsets.
