Art on 56th Gallery is an independent visual art space located in a historic
100-year-old building dating back to the French era, in the heart of Beirut’s
cultural Gemmayzeh district. Since its opening in 2012, the gallery has become
a key platform for contemporary art, showcasing both emerging and established
artists from Lebanon, the Middle East, and beyond.
The gallery’s mission is to enrich the local art scene, promote Lebanese and
regional artists internationally, and stimulate the country’s creative sector. By
fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and providing a space for dialogue,
Art on 56th has become a vital cultural hub, inspiring innovation and
contributing to Beirut’s artistic renaissance.
Following the explosion on August 4th, 2020, Art on 56th became a cornerstone
in the rebuilding process, preserving its space and contributing to the
restoration of the community. Today, it remains a powerful force for creativity
and strength, cultivating positive change and reimagining the future of Beirut.
Art on 56th was founded by Noha Wadi Moharram, a passionate gallerist and
art advisor based in Beirut. Noha is dedicated to supporting contemporary
artists, particularly from Lebanon and the Middle East, and advocating for
greater gender balance and diversity within the art world. Through her work, she
seeks to inspire the next generation, especially by engaging with schools to
nurture creativity and independent thinking. Her vision for the gallery has always
been to create a space for dialogue, learning, and cultural exchange, both
locally and internationally.
