Biography
Born in 1975, after classical studies, Mik Mød started developing his independent vision in Copenhagen. Then, during his frequent travels in Italy, France, Spain and North of Europe, he discovered and focused on his personal passion for photography. Constantly invited at International exhibitions, fairs and festivals, Mik caught the editorial fever for every kind of art, fashion and design publications. His endless interest in whatever is creative brought him to start a timid personal collection of artworks, magazines and books sometimes signed. With the same humble, understatement attitude, Mik, whose introspective mind firstly pushed him to portrait photography, decided to eventually shoot art nude photography, long time planned in his intimate reflections.
Strong believer that photography needs long analysis and studies much before the factual moment, he did very few shootings, inspired by Classic art and Mythology, keeping in mind the taste of his favorite works by Man Ray, Edward Weston, Robert Mapplethorpe, Herb Ritts, Albert Watson, Guido Argentini, Andreas H. Bitesnich, Bruno Bisang… Their archive can only represent to him a starting point to leave always room to spontaneous improvisation like in a music solo. A voracious reader of intellectual books and movies addicted, Mik considers himself an autodidact of self-knowledge and self-esteem growth. His elegant style is attracted by raw purity of human shapes, sometimes told with a minimal approach sometimes in interaction with location atmosphere and geometries.
His photos, shown so far only in France, are part of European and North American private collections. Maybe they will be soon a first hard cover monograph book, after a small number of hand made creative mock ups. Mik Mød is exclusively represented worldwide by Image in Progress.
