Biography
Gérard Pamboujian, born December 4, 1941 in Toulon, is a French artist of Armenian origin, multi-disciplinary. Mainly a painter, he also practices drawing and sculpture.
He studied at the Beaux-Arts and in architecture in Toulon.
He became famous for his nudes, his Arles girls, his bullfighting scenes and naval battles.
He will frequent great contemporary masters (his painting "Tauromachy" is a tribute to Picasso) and will draw its sources from the great tradition of the classical masters.
"I like to treat human forms, to express the tension of relationships, the strength of uncommon passions. But forms like themes are only a pretext. The important thing is fishing in the material".
Its abstraction, Pamboujian forges it in the solitude of an incessant and angry quest: "A painting is an accumulation of errors, failures", but from these errors the expression springs in a dynamic expression.
He exhibits regularly in France, the United States, Switzerland and Monaco and has been listed in the Akoun and the Bénézit since 1999.
