“A feeling of immensity that lets thoughts travel"
Karine Lahannier invites us to discover a whole universe of colors that she has always carried within her.
From learning calligraphy to transposing the art of line onto canvas, the artist acquired a culture of movement and a mastery of the fusion of nuances, which today allow him to combine in his paintings shapes and colors that come alive.
She enjoys playing with their intensity and luminosity.
Glass powder or sand, for texture, and pure pigments are harmoniously combined with strong colors, such as soothing blue, amber or energizing red.
Depending on the variations in light, its compositions reveal themselves to be different, alternately making the invisible visible and the visible invisible, leaving you with the possibility of staying there indefinitely.
Karine chose to sign her paintings on the back so as not to disrupt the harmony of the lines and colors and to allow the viewer to let their thoughts travel beyond the limits of the frame.
Lose yourself in its universe, where spirit and nature, the hidden and the revealed, the moving and the fixed are reconciled. Who knows, perhaps you will then become aware of being the beating heart of matter.

My inspiration
My sources of inspiration are multiple. The beauty of raw territories like the lands of Iceland or the imprint of the wild Atlantic moves me. The magic of reliefs and reflections of precious stones or other minerals also touches me.
What I particularly like are the dualities or complementarities of elements: a raging sea under a sky pierced by intense lights which are also a source of calm.
What thrills me is the association of colors, those that I perceive and those that I compose. Their intensities, their transparencies and their materials. I love when all the sensations felt come to life on my canvases.
Other founding landmarks for me are the works of Turner, Soulages, Rothko and the Chinese artist Zao Wou-Ki, whose work I particularly admire.
My painting is abstract, because I think that we must go beyond mere representation if we want to reveal the spirit of the universe with all its invisible part.
