Pierluca Cetera

Pierluca Cetera graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari.  

From the 2000s to the present, he has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, created several pictorial projects, stage sets for plays and performances, and has also dedicated himself to a pictorial vision of cinema.

His work has always moved toward an experience that sinks into the bowels of the image, in the figuration of a constellation of bodies, faces, anatomical details and objects with a strongly symbolic character that he then rethought, reconfigured, and layered throughout his work. His painting belongs to that history of the representation of the truth and emotions of the human soul that starts from Giotto, traces the dirty feet of Caravaggio's saints, transits from the screams of bodies painted by Bacon and arrives at Lucien Freud's parted vaginas and Nicola Samorì's layering of flesh.  The artist has alternated between professional commitment to painting and teaching also in the Academies of Fine Arts.
