Fernando Palacios, born in Valladolid in 1976, is a Spanish painter whose work is deeply rooted in informalism, emphasizing the significance of material and gesture in his creations. He holds a degree in Conservation and Restoration from the Escuela Superior de BB.CC. de Valladolid, although his engagement with painting began at an early age. Palacios's artistic approach involves blending color pigments with organic substances to craft unique textures and dimensions. His paintings evoke a profound Romantic vision, focusing on the essential connection between individuals and their environment, often explored through meteorological phenomena. Throughout his career, Palacios has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Notable recognitions include the "New Values" Award at the IV José David Redondo Painting Biennial, the 1st Prize in the IV Caneja Painting Contest, and the Army Prize, large format, in its XLVI Edition. In October 2024, Palacios presented the exhibition 'Custodiar la Naturaleza' at the Museo de Palencia. This multidisciplinary showcase featured forty works, including paintings, sculptures, videos, and poetry, all paying homage to nature and climate. Highlights included the sculptural installation 'Las Leyes de la Naturaleza' and the six-piece polyptych 'Vigila', depicting schematic trees in fluid environments symbolizing the climate. Palacios's work is characterized by a unique gesturality, marked by the contrast between rapid, improvised washes and material reliefs. His art evokes a depth reminiscent of Romanticism, centering on the origin of the essential connection between the individual and their environment through meteorological phenomena. His paintings often reflect a profound connection to his Castilian origins, with informalism forming the foundation of his artistic essence. Through his art, Palacios seeks to bridge the gap between the individual and the unattainable, a pursuit that resonates deeply within his work. Palacios's work continues to be exhibited and celebrated, reflecting his ongoing exploration of the intricate relationship between humanity and the natural world.
