Biography

Mamedov Katib Safar ogly Born in 1963 in Azerbaijan. Graduated from the Kharkiv Institute of Art and Industry, Faculty of Sculpture - in 1993. People's Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the Repin International Prize, Honorary citizen of Kharkiv, Professor, Lecturer at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1997, Laureate and prize winner of many international competitions, Author of numerous monuments, busts, memorial plaques. Since 1990, a regular participant in exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. Works are in private collections and in museums in many countries of the world.

All his life, Katib has been bowing down to the great masters of the past, especially highlighting two geniuses in worldwide art history - Michelangelo and Rodin. His works are distinguished by powerful plasticity and are inspired by love. Katib Mamedov's sculptural compositions can be divided into four major directions. - Female images Female plasticity radiates love and tenderness. It fascinates: the lines are smooth, flowing and graceful. - Animal world These are mainly large royal figures: eagles, panthers, lions and, of course, faithful friends of man - dogs and horses. Compositions with animals are charged with strength and power, and at the same time, like all the author's works, are unusually plastic. - Modern three-dimensional compositions They are refined, elegant, interesting in the combination of different textures, colors and techniques of material processing. - Public sculpture A special place in Katib's work is occupied by public sculpture in urban spaces. He is the author of many sculptural groups and compositions in various cities of Ukraine.
