Biography
Attracted by art since his childhood, he studied arts at the University of Chester. He has been influenced by artist such as Jackson Pollack, Gerhard Richter and Alexis Harding.
The artist creates his pieces with a process which combines oil, varnish and acrylics, which he puts on a canvas with the help of a spatula and a knife in order to create a material effect and to add a certain dynamics and depth to his work. He then works on the color by scraping in certain places to show the support or by superimposing plaster or adding paint splatters to thicken it.
Lee Herring gets inspired by his frequent journeys in England, which he paints by memory, giving him great freedom of interpretation. The artist does not try to copy reality but to capture the essence of it and instill in the observer a feeling of completeness and joy.
