Sylva Sylva

A researcher in cognitive psychology and then a clinical psychologist, I have been dancing and taking photos for a very long time.

I have practiced different forms of dance: traditional African, contemporary, and butoh. I have experimented with performance with primitive expression and butoh.

It was following a professional encounter that I began exploring painting. Quite naturally, this happened while dancing. Since then, the two expressions have nourished each other.

Peter Casagrande, during a workshop, supported and developed the connection with the movement. I discovered oil painting with Stéphane Halbout.

My paintings, drawings and photographs were not intended to be shown, but rather to constitute for me stages, moments and ephemeral places wherever my exploration took me.

I am constantly searching and experimenting with materials and mediums, unsure of the next step, the next movement.
