XYBÊ's work has its origins in very different worlds. Indeed, Soulages' black, Klimt's golds, Vasarely's geometric visions, BUREN's work and Sonia Delaunay's compositions are all sources of inspiration for him, and he tries to bring all these paths together in his own work through collage.

The result is compositions in which black, gold and silver blend together in a space defined by strips which, depending on their thickness, direction or rhythm, create a whole. They respond to or contrast with each other, articulating themselves and creating geometric and abstract combinations with art deco accents, sometimes symmetrical or organised in a freer spirit.

These works, made with strips of paper measuring 3mm, 5mm or 7mm, require patience and meticulousness, with more than 1,000 pieces cut and glued one by one for the large formats.
