Isabelle Janier

Isabelle is an actress, director, drama teacher, author and painter.

On a large sheet of paper. A beach with millions of tiny grains of sand of every color. She is eight years old: her first painting. She is 10 years old when the Mother Superior asks: who wants to play the Virgin Mary, and she doesn't lift a finger. She misses the role of her life. In her little corner, she learns the role by heart and will play it in front of her parents at CHRISTMAS. The line is all drawn!

She entered the Beaux-arts de Paris in Plastic Arts and the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Arts Dramatique de Paris 79/82. She will be an actress with a passage at La Comédie Française before staging both contemporary texts and texts from the repertoire: Catherine de Heilbronn by Kleist will be her hobbyhorse, with writing.

Theater and writing will resonate in his painting. The stage cage, mirrored with the black polypropylene support, is worked with acrylic and pencil. Nothing is stable: presences emerge in the light, fade, transform into shadow, before being highlighted with a stroke of calligraphy and writing. A form emerges. It is an unstable, flickering vision, where each line testifies to a deliberate imbalance. In the spirit of expressionism, this instability translates less a description of the world than an inner state. A work that is close to expressionism, abstract, which can be found on canvas in light flat tints.
