For the seventh time in a row, Frank fluegel galerie in Kitzbuehel is showing new works by the US street art artist Mr. Brainwash under the title "Whimsical Mountains" in the historic rooms of the 480-year-old Mantler House at Josef-Pirchl-Str. 6.
The exhibition with well-known works by the international street art star will open on December 16, 2024 and can be seen in Kitzbuehel until March 15, 2025.
As every year since 2018, street art works have been on display at Frank fluegel galerie in the Gamsstadt below the Hahnenkamm. The previous exhibitions were sold out within a short space of time, as owners of larger chalets and properties on the Bichlalm, Lebenberg or Schwarzsee usually decorate their new domiciles with art.
In the exhibition, his main works "Everyday Life - Follow Your Dreams", "Einstein - Love is he Answer"," Banksy Thrower", 'Balloon Girl', 'Juxtapose', 'Never Never Give Up' and 'Charlie Chaplin'. Original unique pieces on paper in mixed media and stencil technique but also paintings on wood, steel or concrete. As always with Mr. Brainwash with lots of spray paint under the motto "Life is Beautiful".
Born Thierry Guetta in Garges-lès-Gonesse near Paris in 1966, he has lived in Los Angeles since the age of 15. The first "Life is Beautiful" exhibition took place in Los Angeles in 2008 and quickly became a crowd-puller with more than 50,000 visitors. In his documentary film "Exit through the Giftshop", Mr. Brainwash accompanied the street art legend Banksy at work. Through him, he got into the street art scene and began to create art himself. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in 2011. However, unlike Banksy, Mr. Brainwash revealed his identity and quickly rose to become a superstar of the street art scene. The exhibitions of Thierry Guetta, the real name of Mr. Brainwash, became crowd pullers, Madonna commissioned him to design the album cover "Celebration".
In February 2010, the second exhibition "Life Is Beautiful: Icons" opened in New York on 1,400 m2 and was sold out after a few days.
From this point on, Mr. Brainwash was a phenomenon, a superstar who conquered the art world with his originals at record speed. This was followed by numerous exhibitions in England, Germany, France and most recently in Seoul.
He has also designed album covers for Rick Ross and entered into collaborations with Nike, Mercedes-Benz and Coca-Cola. Mr. Brainwash also held an audience with Pope Francis in Rome and was invited to collaborate with the former US First Lady, Michelle Obama, for the artwork of her foundation "Let Girls Learn". He is represented at Art Basel every year and Mr. Brainwash also teaches at two prestigious universities, UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) and Columbia University in New York.
Frank fluegel galerie has represented Mr. Brainwash in German-speaking countries since 2012 and has already shown his artworks in Düsseldorf, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Sylt. Works by Mr. Brainwash have been regularly presented in the Kitzbühel branch during the winter months since 2018, and after the auction record in London for a Balloon Girl by Banksy at Sothebys, street art is increasingly becoming the focus of collectors. Collectors are not necessarily only interested in unique pieces, but also in editions as long as they are original. Whether collectors buy Mr. Brainwash pictures as an investment or for aesthetic reasons is of secondary importance, although the pictures are far too beautiful to be used simply as an investment.
