

Biography
Hrair Gharib was born in 1969 in the Artik Republic of Armenia. In 1980, he enrolled in the Jacob Kojoian School of Arts in Yerevan. In 1986, he went on to study at the Panos Terlemezian High School of Arts and Dramatics, faculty of graphics, Yerevan. From 1993 through the present, Participation in national and international exhibitions.
Hrair's pictures offer us a precious glimpse into the world of the painter's imagination. With fine attention to detail, a large and creative vocabulary of imagery, and the kind of craftsmanship he applies to his work, his pictures are easily captivating to the eye. He uses many references to mythology, Biblical symbolism, patterns undoubtedly inspired by Armenian textile designs, and yet has developed a style distinctly his own. Hrair's women are worldly, passionate, and always establish a strong presence in the image.
The painter's world is one of feasts, sunshine, rich smells and colours, the sea. His technique is that of using both acrylic and oil paint to render the desired effect of impasto, which he uses so delicately and exactly. He also sometimes incorporates sculpture and decorative ornamentation in his pieces, by attaching these materials or constructions to the canvas or frame of the picture. Overall, what can be said with certitude is that Hrair Gharib is a great talent whose future shouldn't be doubted as one of the foremost Armenian painters of his generation.
