Biography
Born in Réunion Island, Sandrine Langlade attended her first painting workshop at the Jardin d'Eden at the age of 6. Since then, she has been painting non-stop.
In 2004-2005, she spent a year in Brazil, where she exhibited her paintings for the first time at the MARGS café - Rio Grande do Sul Art Museum, in Porto Alegre. At 21, she sold almost all of her paintings and realized that one could make a living from one's art.
She then made two promises to herself: to finish her studies in Paris (where she obtained her double Master's at La Sorbonne and Sciences Po in 2008) and one day become a full-time painter.
In 2009 she began exhibiting in Paris and, one thing led to another, took part in her first international exhibition in 2016 in Barcelona (Spain).
In 2017, she opened her studio in The Hague (Netherlands) and extended her scope internationally, exhibiting in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Colombia, etc. and participating in renowned contemporary art fairs in the United States: Art Expo New York in 2018, Spectrum Miami in 2017, 2019, 2023.
In 2018 in Italy, she won two international art awards: the Tribute to Tiziano in Venice and the Leonardo da Vinci in Florence.
In 2019, in the United States, she created a live painting at the Spectrum Miami contemporary art fair. A week later, she won the audience award at the MIA-RUN art show organized by ARPAC in Reunion Island.
Sandrine Langlade is married and the mother of two children. Recently settled in the Toulouse region, where her studio is located, she continues to exhibit regularly in Europe, the United States, and Latin America.
An intense, powerful, spiritual universe.
A French woman originally from Reunion Island, Sandrine Langlade will be moving to Tournefeuille, near Toulouse, in September 2023. She has exhibited in Europe (Paris, Venice, Florence, Berlin, Rome, Barcelona, etc.), the United States (New York, Miami), and Latin America (Porto Alegre, Bogota, Brazil).
Her pictorial style is at the crossroads of lyrical abstraction and expressionism. She uses her mastery of color to create contrast and light, creating a unique, easily recognizable style. She works with materials through blends and juxtapositions, creating asymmetrical compositions that find their balance in the interplay of opposing and complementary forces. The whole resonates with power.
Against a backdrop of synesthesia, colors come to life. Each creation exudes a particular force, born from the combination of violent tension and gentle harmony. This reinforces the unity that reigns in each work.
His approach questions the concept of finitude, which the artist has explored since the beginning. The infinity of possibilities, contours, subjects, fields of action, composition, and lines. A concept closely linked to his vision, his conception of existence, and his life choices.
The artist draws inspiration from her native island and everyday life, using her creativity to transcribe the emotions and sensations she experiences on a daily basis. Throughout her paintings, trials, errors, studies, sketches, etc., one essential question is at the heart of her work:
“How can I render what I perceive in a work of art that is positively powerful, spiritual, impactful and revealing of infinity?"
