Biography
Born on April 11, 1918 in Albi, Max Savy first made his mark on Aude painting through his teaching skills. A schoolteacher and drawing professor at the École Normale, generations of Carcassonne residents first knew him as a teacher, before he achieved international renown, particularly in the United States. Americans and residents of Aude have always appreciated his favorite subjects, which were rural life and Languedoc landscapes bathed in light. The museum already owns two of the painter's paintings, including 'The Burning Garrigue,' as well as several hundred drawings donated by his daughter.
