Biography
Herman de Vries (b. 1931) is a leading figure in international concrete and conceptual art. Since the 1960s, his multidisciplinary work has explored the intersection of nature, science, chance, and perception. Known for his plant-based installations, earth rubbings, natural archives, and experimental print series, de vries follows a holistic artistic philosophy expressed in his lifelong motto: "to be all ways to be." *** His work is held in major institutional collections, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Kunsthalle Mannheim, and has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale.
