The legend of the fig-child connects two growing hermaphroditic figures: the fig and adolescence. This series depicts the spiritual journey of the child-fig, who finds his way through strange stages that are fantastic children's games, or even inevitable fights.
The foundations of my work result from my reflection on the representation of entities not defined by gender. After some research, I learned that the flowers and fruits have the characteristic of hermaphroditism. Adolescence is in parallel the period when the body changes rapidly but where the thoughts remain suspended by new introspections.
These stages of self-reflection are represented by a strange and dominant nature, insects and dreamlike plants. Many symbols represent the difficulties of a child growing up in an often hostile environment, such as the luminous insect that absorbs the child's body, or references to wild plants that grow randomly.
All pieces shown are reversible. They depict both the child evolving through his external environment and the crossing of psychological stages in his heart of hearts. My work is for people still in the self-reflection stage, encouraging them to begin a process of personal retrospection.

Presentation
Amber MA graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York as a professional visual essay artist. His work consists in the elaboration of a strange and original content in a narrative context, whose scrolling image can make think of the comic strip.
From 2017 to 2019, Amber MA worked with author Anne Opowtowsky on the third part of the Walled City trilogy, and at the same time organized her private exhibition for the 789 exhibition space in Beijing. The project was supported by professionals like Patron or Simon & Schuster.
