Inspired by Tracey Emin
Tracey Emin's autobiographical and confessional artwork instantly captivated the British art scene since her debut as one of the Young British Artists of the 80s. Supported by Charles Saatchi, alongside fellow YBA Damien Hirst, Emin soon became an international success. Her career is characterized by her unorthodox and candid approach. Renowned installations are provocative yet sincere, coming from a very personal place as the artist reveals intimate details within her art.
Her artistic œuvre is as ambitious as it is captivating. Not shying away from one particular medium, Emin experiments with conceptual art through paintings, installations and prints. Recurrent themes within her work include gender, sexuality, understanding of self and death. She is particularly championed as a feminist artist for her pieces which challenged perceptions of female sexuality, such as My Bed and Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963-1995 and her series of nudes.
It is no wonder as such that she serves as an inspiration for countless contemporary artists. Artsper has collated those artists who explore similar themes and use similar imagery and techniques here in one curated selection for you to discover.
