Artist Residency at the University of Alberta Botanical Garden
Devon, Edmonton Alberta
Throughout the 2025 season, I am honored to be the artist-in-residence at the University of Alberta Botanical Garden. This residency is a year-long exploration of nature through painting—both live on site and in the quiet reflection of my home studio.
Visitors will find me painting en plein air in the gardens, creating layered works on paper and canvas in oil, inspired by the elements of water, sky, and the joyful simplicity of picnics. These live pieces capture the immediacy and atmosphere of the moment, while studio works—created mostly during the winter months—will be guided by memory, seasonal contrast, and emotional connection to the garden's beauty.
Each artwork, whether sketched from life or shaped in solitude, is rooted in time spent among the flowers, ponds, and shifting light of this place. All works from the residency will be exhibited at the Botanical Garden as they are completed, forming a growing collection over the seasons.
Some of the older works is also on exhibit to showcase what was previously inspired by nature! Such peices are available through Artsper and shipped globally.
The residency invites you to slow down—whether to watch a painting come to life, share a quiet picnic, or simply be present in nature. Amidst the pace of our everyday lives, this is an open invitation to connect with the land and the creative process it inspires.
Thanks for taking the time to add a little nature into your lives though me! Have a great summer!
