Biography
Patrick Tjungurrayi Olodoodi (1935–2017) commuted between Balgo and Kintore or Kiwirrkurra, and his style straddled those of these areas. Born between 1935 and 1943, he was the brother of Helicopter Tjungurrayi, a famous painter and renowned healer. He walked to the Balgo mission, where he lived with his family until the Kintore community was established. He then lived in numerous communities and held various jobs before taking up painting (in Balgo around 1986). For several years, he lived between Balgo and the Pintupi communities of Kintore and Kiwirrkurra, where he eventually settled more regularly with his wife, Miriam Napanangka. He painted for two cooperatives, as did his other brother, Brandy. His extensive knowledge allowed him to paint themes associated with a wide variety of sites. In the late 2000s, he established himself as one of the preeminent artists in this area.
