A Belgian master sculptor for public and museum collections with last rare unique pieces
• Jacques Van den Abeele was born in 1960 in Belgium.
• It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of this renowned Belgian artist sculptor in May 2023. His contributions to the world of art have been unique and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of artists to come.
• Music is always a powerful source of inspisration for Jacques Van Den Abeele.
• Art, for Van den Abeele, is above all a quest towards the essential foundations of existence, moving towards what lies behind appearances: feelings, emotions, fears. The body, posture, movement and essence of human life are at the heart of the work of Jacques Van den Abeele. His sculptures thus allow us to see the fragility and transience of life, like the ephemeral sound of a note of music which, barely heard, already fades and disappears ...
• He was graduated at the Oudenaarde Fine Arts Academy and received the Belgium Government Medal for Decorative Arts and Sculpture. He also graduated in Drawing (living models) at the Saint Lucas Academy in Gent.
• Jacques Van Den Abeele began his career making sculptures in marble and in alabaster. In 1980, he discovered and experimented with techniques of bronze while seeking the refinement of still greater harmony of shapes. A technique perfected by the artist and his personal concept gave birth to an art that fully highlights his theory on purification of forms.
• Jacques Van Den Abeele won several awards and his sculptures have been purchased by museums, municipalities, councils and private collectors in Europe.
