Xavier Daniel

Xavier Daniel is a visual artist living in Reunion Island. Born in 1968 in Rouen, the son of an architect, he first studied physical sciences, while practicing photography and drawing as an autodidact. He moved to Reunion Island in 1996 and enrolled in the Ecole des Beaux Art, which led him to obtain a DNAP. Since then, he has made a living from his artistic production, leading workshops and creative residencies, exhibiting in Reunion Island, the Indian Ocean region, Asia and mainland France.

Xavier Daniel's artistic career is both diverse and coherent. The practice of drawing, painting, writing, and sculpture accompanies his entire approach, which crystallized in the 2000s.

with the Cheminement(s) exhibition and the creation of the eponymous association. It was then with the art marron collective, co-founded in 2006, that taking into account public space and the exhibition context took on importance in the visual artist's approach around the notions of installations and in situ.
