Biography

My influences come from Asia.

Studying calligraphy and oriental painting for many years at the Academy created by the Korean master Ung-No Lee gave me the foundations I use in my paintings: mastery of the brush and Indian ink, notions of full and empty, composition in space, etc...

Thanks to this apprenticeship, I understood that writing, through its graphics, could become a means of expressing much more than what is said.

In my paintings, the drawings and texts/poems are intimately interwoven, creating surprise and emotion. The precise observation of nature is the source of my work. I draw on numerous sketches to keep only the essential. I use Indian ink and watercolour on absorbent, fragile oriental paper, which I reinforce with thicker paper.
