The world of Gwenaëlle Le Mée borders on the dreamlike, where she gives herself total creative freedom, mixing photography, material sculpture and painting.
Biography
Gwenaëlle Le Mée sculpts the world. Her technique is based on an alchemy whose dosage results from multiple explorations through the arts. Each medium is reinvented, juxtaposed, diverted, to create a vibrant material.
Transparency of glazes, inks, lacquers, collages, the texture comes to life through successive sanding and chiselling. The relief created, in total freedom, lets the wounds, the wear of time, the accidents show through, in a recomposed harmony. The sublimated vision of our world today.
Trained in Plastic Arts at the Sorbonne (Paris), Gwenaëlle Le Mée is the winner of the Jean Larivière Prize from the National Society of Fine Arts (Orangerie du Sénat, June 2024).
She lives and works between Île de Ré and Paris.
