Biography
Plok, apparent contradictions!
Born in 1944 in Paris, after studying "Art Deco", he moved to the Aix-en-Provence countryside to never leave this region that inspires him so much.
With great discipline, he goes to his studio every day where he interprets on his canvases his walks and his daydreams, drawing his inspiration from his sketches brought back from various journeys.
Plok lets out gestural imprints brutally interrupted by almost Cubist compositions like Mondrian or de Staël (whose hype and passion for the latter's work he does not hide, quoting Matisse: "I have never avoided the influence of others, I would have considered this a cowardice and a lack of sincerity with respect to myself. ").
Under the apparent simplicity of the works hides a long synthesis work where form and matter come together. Balance and harmony come into play in the renewal of theatrical painting. PLOK dares, surprises, takes us to the land of extremes.
PLOK, a signature, certainly.
