Maryan Besaga

Marуan Besaga (born in 1980) – a painter, designer, art expert, lecturer and organizer of cultural and artistic projects. Graduated from the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, MA with Distinction (Poland, 2003). Since 2005, he has been working at the Lviv National Academy of Arts (Ukraine). PhD in Art (2010), Associate Professor of the Department of Academic Painting (2012), Head of the Department of International Relations of the Lviv National Academy of Arts (2011-2025). Scholarship holder of the Lviv Department of Culture (2009). Awarded the "Medal of the Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow" and second place at the 5th International Pastel Biennale, Nowy Sacz (Poland) for the series of pastel works "Presence" (2011). Author of a number of publications in popular science publications in Ukraine and abroad. Laureate of the regional prize in the nomination - Art History and Culturology named S. Gordynsky (2015). Awarded with gratitude from the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine for a significant personal contribution to the development of art education, scientific and creative achievements and conscientious work (2021). The artist's works were exhibited at 21 personal exhibitions and over 30 group exhibitions, both in Ukraine and abroad. Organized 110 art projects in collaboration with partners. Among them: 7 international symposiums, 58 art exhibitions of Ukrainian and foreign artists, 25 student plein airs and art residencies. In 2024, he began creative work in the field of Fashion design, creating his own brand of women's clothing "MARBELI". The debut show of the MARBELI SS 2025 clothing collection took place in November 2024 at Lviv Fashion Week (Ukraine).
