Biography
Sean Thornhill is an artist and designer based in Cambridgeshire, creating from the serenity of his garden studio. Drawing inspiration from the bold geometry of Bauhaus and the raw aesthetics of Brutalism, Sean's work explores structure, shadow, and light in a dynamic interplay that shifts throughout the day.
His signature large relief artworks are meticulously designed, beginning as digital compositions crafted in vector software. Before committing to a final piece, he constructs small-scale prototypes, allowing him to refine the three-dimensional interaction of layered forms. Once the design is perfected, Sean translates it into precise plan drawings, which serve as templates for the final artwork.
Each piece is then carefully cut by hand with a craft blade or, for intricate details, by laser cutter to achieve absolute precision. The individual elements are then assembled and painted, bringing his vision to life, where geometry and light merge to create ever-changing compositions.
