Peintres anglais de Paysages
Un élément typique que vous retrouverez dans bon nombre de foyers au Royaume-Uni ? Une œuvre de peintre anglais de paysage, comme Claire Wiltsher, par exemple ! En effet, l'école classique anglaise s'est largement consacrée à cet exercice particulier de dépiction de paysage. Il faut dire que ce genre célèbre a fait des émules dans tous les pays. Ainsi, JMW Turner, Joseph Constable ou encore Richard Wilson sont d'abord influencés par les peintres du nord de l'Europe continentale, tels que Brueghel ou Van Eyck.
Mais les grands maîtres et la nature ne sont pas les seules inspirations des peintres anglais de paysage. L'incroyable variété, proposée par la grande île, invite les paysages sauvages de l'Angleterre rurale à se mêler aux scènes plus urbaines des bords de la Tamise à Londres ou aux centres-villes des plus petits villages du Royaume-Uni. Ce genre pictural très répandu de l'autre côté de la Manche s'est peu à peu imposé comme un must have dans les intérieurs britanniques. Cependant, les artistes émergents bousculent aujourd'hui les codes en proposant des paysages revisités et semi-abstraits.
