Figure abbondanti e colorate
I pigmenti furono inventati circa 40.000 anni fa e da allora gli artisti li hanno utilizzati come elemento visivo per creare opere d'arte. Dall'uso del rosso nell'antico Egitto al blu, più ricercato dell'oro nel Medioevo, l'uso del colore – e il suo valore! - si sono evoluti nel corso dei secoli. Così è stata sviluppata anche la teoria dei coloriluce . Fu il poeta tedesco Jonathan Wolfgang Goethe il primo a sviluppare una teoria del colore, nel 1810. Secondo Goethe, i colori sono composti da entrambi e ombra. Successivamente, gli impressionisti astrassero gli elementi visivi classici della pittura per concentrarsi sull'essenza del colore, utilizzando toni che completano e catturano la luce percepita ad occhio nudo e non come la trattiamo secondo la tradizione delle belle arti. All'inizio del XX secolo, Wassily Kandinsky creò una griglia di colori che associava i colori a suoni ed emozioni!
L'uso e il fascino per il colore ispirano ancora la creazione contemporanea.
