Vice City is an ode to graffiti proposed by the duo formed by Berns and Keny Kayne. These artists born in the 1980s, at the height of vandal graffiti, are imbued with the codes and history of this long discredited current.
The exhibition will also be an opportunity to explore the murky relationship between street art and art galleries, through some fifteen unpublished canvases and serigraphs.
Born in Paris, Keny is a passionate artist and actor of underground culture.
Interested from an early age in street arts, he decided very early on to devote his free time to the practice of graffiti. He started tagging in 2003, then for many years the tunnels and train depots in the capital would be his playgrounds. Today he practices graffiti in the streets and on canvas.
Berns is a big fan of lettering. But his style is also nourished by his Peruvian and New Zealand roots. He develops many of his creations around very colorful figurative symbols, populated by mystical animals and detailed characters. He enjoys working on a form of duality in the works he creates or the colors he uses. A way for him to remind that nothing is ever uniform.
In France, for several years, he has been part of the well-known Collectif ODV alongside big names such as Astro.
The Wawi gallery has been completely transformed into a graffiti spot for the occasion!
The artists had carte blanche to express their boundless passion.
