Clothilde Lasserre

Born in 1969, Clothilde Lasserre is the exception that confirms the rule. Holding a PhD in Engineering and Applied Mathematics, a rigorous spirit, she possesses a rare sensitivity that is visible in her art. Her work, like herself, is efficient and different. Clothilde Lasserre paints with great energy and sensuality.

Her sense for colors allows her to try unconventional assemblages that give an essential role to nuances. Through the several layers of the oil paintings she can play with contrasts, controlling the intensity of light. Clothilde Lasserre is interested in humans and the place each of us occupies. The mobs interest her and are one of her main subjects.

She captures minor details, the tentatives to exist, our irrational impatience, the instinct that drives us to run behind other people who run, the need to be part of an ensemble. Her paintings represent life, movement, people who meet, but don't really see each other, who dance or who lie together on the beach.

Entering Clothilde Lasserre's universe becomes an addiction, a vertigo in which we stay, complacent, drunk from the colors. Clothilde Lasserre has been exhibiting her works since 2003.
