Anna Gawecka's work navigates the intersection of her medium: photography and textiles, inspired by nature, movement, symmetry, and light.
Biography
Anna Gawecka is a Polish visual artist currently residing in Amsterdam.
Practising light painting since 2014, she began exploring hand-tufting alongside other fabric-based techniques in 2021 as a new path for her artistic expression. She soon found it ignited her joy and creativity, challenging her to translate the essence of her light painting into a tactile form—blending movement, shapes, and reflections of light with the rich textures of wool and thread.
Anna focuses her craft on using only rescued yarn—either from unravelled sweaters lovingly sent by her mum or surplus wool she discovers through friends, donations, or unexpected finds. This approach allows her to connect her creations more deeply with her sensitivity to nature, in every shape and form, the very source of her inspiration.
